Detlev Alaze is an independent ukulele instructor, author, and musician based in Kleve, Germany. He provides ukulele instruction through both local in-person settings and online formats. His on-site teaching includes individual lessons in Kleve, courses at adult education centers in Kleve, Goch, and Geldern, and a monthly community meetup. His online offer features browser-based programs like the Ukulele Lounge, containing video instruction, digital songbooks, interactive training tools, and an open Patreon community.

Study Programs

Detlev Alaze provides specialized non-degree music instruction focusing entirely on the ukulele. Rather than offering formal academic degrees or state certifications, the curriculum is structured around practical playing skills, music theory, and accompaniment techniques for beginners and continuing adult learners. The primary online course is the Einsteigerkurs, an entry-level program that includes 80 minutes of instructional video material, a comprehensive manual, and a digital songbook featuring over 100 songs. It covers left-handed and right-handed chord fingerings, 26 distinct strumming patterns, a scale trainer, a chord progression trainer, and an interactive chord generator. For more advanced practice, the Blues-Suite provides playalongs, an interactive fretboard explorer, a lick workshop, a music quiz, and an accompanying workbook. Supporting online utilities include the Akkord-Kompass for circle-of-fifths song analysis, the Rhythmusbegleiter rhythm accompaniment generator, and a browser-based Tab-Editor capable of converting tablature between ukulele, guitar, bass, and banjo with MIDI import and multiple export options. Additional free distance learning resources, playalongs, PDF materials, and chord libraries are provided online via a dedicated Patreon workshop community. Alongside the online courses, Detlev Alaze offers local, in-person instruction in Germany. On-site formats include individual one-on-one lessons and paired lessons conducted in Kleve. Detlev Alaze also offers a free downloadable beginner booklet as well as a completely free Patreon ukulele workshop with play-alongs, PDFs, and chord resources without subscription obligations. Digital access is structured through monthly plans that can be canceled on a monthly basis, with a ten percent discount available for annual billing. The Ukulele-Spielwiese membership costs 5.95 euros per month including VAT and provides access to the songbook and training tools. The comprehensive Ukulele-Lounge membership costs 11.90 euros per month including VAT and includes all current and future browser tools. For local instruction in Kleve, students can participate in private individual sessions, joint lessons for pairs, or community college courses in Kleve and Geldern, with a fair trial lesson offered for private tutoring.
