Acerca de Network Technology
Network Technology is a core specialization within the discipline of IT Infrastructure, itself part of the broader academic field of Computer Science & IT. It focuses on the design, deployment, operation and assurance of communication systems that connect devices, services and users. The curriculum covers network fundamentals (OSI and TCP/IP models, Ethernet, IP addressing and routing), wide-area and wireless networking, network services (DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, email), network management and monitoring, quality of service, virtualization and software-defined networking (SDN), and introductory network security.
As enterprises, cloud providers, and telecom operators build increasingly complex, software-driven, and geographically distributed networks, Network Technology expertise is essential for reliable digital services. Practitioners configure routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers; deploy and manage enterprise and service-provider networks; troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues; and integrate emerging technologies such as SD-WAN, network automation, and intent-based networking. The specialization prepares graduates for roles in network operations, engineering, architecture, and technical sales across industries.
Opciones de Estudio
Online study pathways in Network Technology span multiple levels. Bachelor's programs establish foundations in computer networks, operating systems, systems programming, and introductory security. Certificate programs and vendor-specific training (Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, etc.) provide practical, job-ready skills. Master's programs deepen expertise in advanced networking, network automation, and cloud networking.
