Study Programs

Michael Totzauer offers an instructional program portfolio focused entirely on stringed instruments, primarily acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and ukulele. The portfolio ranges from free introductory coaching to comprehensive multi-chapter courses for beginners and continuing musicians. All programs are delivered online in the form of self-paced video courses that can be accessed at any time. The instruction focuses on practical playing abilities, song repertoire, and functional music theory rather than formal academic degrees or vocational qualifications. For acoustic guitar, the offering begins with a free 14-day introductory coaching program, also listed as Grundkurs. This entry-level course covers basic posture, hand and finger positioning, essential chords, basic accompaniment rhythms, simple melody playing, and the coordination of playing while singing. Students can build on this with Gitarre lernen online Masterplan, also designated as Masterplan 1, which comprises 40 condensed video lessons covering foundational chord progressions, systematic strumming and fingerpicking patterns, tablature, sheet music reading, and the use of tools such as the capo. The advanced sequel, Gitarre lernen online Masterplan 2, contains 12 chapters with more than 70 video lessons. It expands upon foundational skills with barre chords, fretboard navigation, two-part playing combining bass and melody lines, notation reading in the second position, scales across all keys, diverse time signatures, harmony theory, and genre explorations including blues, folk, classical, and Spanish styles. Electric guitar training is provided through E-Gitarre lernen online Masterplan. This foundational course is organized into 12 chapters with over 70 video lessons, offering at least six lessons per chapter. The electric guitar curriculum focuses heavily on rhythm playing, classic rock riffs, blues, music theory, tablature, and scale systems designed for playing melodies and solos in various keys, supported by backing tracks and downloadable files. Michael Totzauer also lists a course titled Ukulele lernen. In addition to digital video access, physical workbooks support learning offline, including the Gratis-Workbook and the Gitarre lernen Masterplan Arbeitsbuch.
