About the Company

Founded in Austria and operating since 2009, abc-kinderbetreuung is a registered association providing state-recognized training in childcare. The provider conducts its programs exclusively online and through distance learning, without on-site classroom teaching. Its primary offering is a 35-hour course qualifying participants as certified pedagogical caregivers, featuring downloadable learning modules, audiobooks, and online testing recognized by Austrian authorities for childcare tax deductions.

Study Programs

abc-kinderbetreuung offers a distance learning certificate program titled Ausbildung zur Pädagogisch qualifizierten Person für Kinderbetreuung, also known as the Babysitterkurs. This 35-hour continuing education program is officially recognized by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Families and Youth and fulfills statutory training standards, making childcare costs tax-deductible through the Austrian tax office. The curriculum is aimed at individuals without prior formal credentials, including prospective babysitters, au pairs, job seekers, and grandparents. Instruction covers child supervision essentials, communication and conflict management with children and adolescents, effective learning techniques, and appropriate handling of challenging situations. The training is delivered entirely online, enabling participants to complete their studies from home or while traveling. The curriculum consists of three digital learning modules that equal 12 hours of statutory study time each, delivered through downloadable course scripts and complete audiobooks. Because the self-paced format allows students to set their own study schedules, the certificate can be achieved in as little as three days or extended over a longer period. Course leadership is provided by Mag. Peter Strobl, a communication specialist and coach who also conducts webinars and workshops in personal development and coaching. Graduation requires completing an online multiple-choice final examination consisting of 60 questions derived from the study materials, which takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. A minimum score of 80 percent is required to pass, and candidates can retake the examination as often as needed without any additional fees. For students who do not wish to complete the testing online, the institution offers an alternative option to submit the completed exam sheet as a PDF document for manual grading. Upon passing, participants receive a state-recognized certificate issued in both German and English, which is available for immediate download.

Application Procedure

Admission to the 35-hour training program requires no prior pedagogical background. The course is open to parents, grandparents, au pairs, and prospective childcare providers without formal credentials. Relevant training courses of 8 or 16 hours completed before 2017 can be credited for up to 8 hours, regardless of the original course provider. Prospective students can request learning materials free of charge and without obligation by phone or email before signing up. Anyone can place the course order, and the examinee submits their personal details and date of birth only when accessing the final test. Standard tuition for the 35-hour program is 297 euros, which is periodically discounted to 197 euros including 20 percent Austrian value-added tax. Installment payments are available, and participants can pay by credit card, PayPal, or Sofortüberweisung via Digistore24. Alternatively, fees can be transferred directly to the Austrian bank account of abc-kinderbetreuung. All enrollments include a 30-day money-back guarantee. Graduates obtain a state-recognized certificate that allows qualifying childcare expenses to be submitted for Austrian tax deductions.
