Online Digital Music Production and Sound Engineering Course

This program is designed for aspiring music producers, sound designers, musicians, and audio enthusiasts seeking to establish their own computer-based home recording studio. Learners acquire professional studio workflow techniques from the ground up, requiring neither previous knowledge of sound engineering nor the ability to play an acoustic instrument.

The curriculum covers foundational acoustics, music theory, harmony, and song arrangement, alongside practical technical instruction in digital audio workstations. Students master microphone setup techniques, audio editing, MIDI sequencing, virtual synthesizer programming, mixdown workflows, dynamic effect processing, mastering, audio for video, and essential business structures within the commercial music industry.

Instruction combines comprehensive self-study booklets provided in both digital and print formats with professional Steinberg Cubase Elements software included at no additional cost. Students submit practical assignments through an interactive online study center, receiving individualized grading and feedback from experienced distance instructors, backed by a generous complimentary extension period of up to nine months.

Applicants require standard operating proficiency with Microsoft Windows or Apple macOS and internet connectivity. Practical coursework requires a computer, an external audio interface, a MIDI keyboard, and a recording microphone. Enrollment is open year-round and can be completed directly through the institution's website.
