Online Senior Fitness Trainer Certification (Fitness 65+)

The Online Senior Fitness Trainer Certification (Fitness 65+) prepares fitness trainers with at least a B license, sports and gymnastics teachers, physiotherapists, and personal trainers to lead physical training specifically adapted to older adults. Participants learn how aging impacts physical capabilities and how targeted exercise programs preserve mobility, independence, and cognitive health in senior populations.

The curriculum emphasizes age-appropriate movement concepts, functional strength workouts, fall prevention strategies, and balance training. Students examine physiological adaptations in older age, fitness training for seniors with limited mobility, and methods for modifying exercises to ensure safety and sustained motivation.

Delivered through a flexible distance learning structure, the training provides specialized study booklets, online campus resources, and expert tutorial support. Participants can adapt their study schedule to professional commitments. The course, state-approved by the ZFU (approval no. 7318517c), includes four online half-day seminars and a written and a practical final examination; participants who do not attend the practical seminar receive only a certificate of completion (Theoretische Grundlagen des Trainings im Seniorenalter) instead of the BTB certificate Seniorentrainer.

According to BTB, the course requires at least a trainer license B or a comparable qualification and is aimed as further training at fitness trainers, sports and gymnastics teachers, physiotherapists, and personal trainers.
