Program Description
This program provides portrait photographers with the technical and artistic methodology required to capture and edit images that emulate the aesthetics of classical Old Master paintings. Designed specifically for photographers with foundational experience in human portraiture, the curriculum guides participants through translating historical fine art principles into modern photography workflows.
The course is organized into three distinct learning modules covering analysis, practical execution, and digital finishing. The first module examines historical compositions and lighting characteristics in paintings by Rembrandt and Albrecht Dürer. The second module demonstrates an on-set photo shoot focusing on lighting schemes, subject posing, and set design, supported by downloadable three-dimensional lighting diagrams. The third module walks through raw conversion, layer masking, and dodge-and-burn retouching workflows within Adobe Photoshop.
Delivered as a self-paced video tutorial totaling eighty minutes of instruction, the course provides immediate access to downloadable video files for offline viewing across computers, tablets, and smartphones. Enrollment also includes a layered Photoshop project file and access to a community workshop group for feedback and technical exchange.
