Program Description
The Online Legionella Awareness and Water Safety Course develops foundational knowledge on identifying, preventing, and managing the risks associated with the Legionella bacterium. Designed for professionals working with or near manufactured water systems, the curriculum addresses safety across environments featuring plumbing, cooling towers, hot tubs, swimming pools, showers, and water tanks.
Participants explore the biological background of Legionnaires' disease, common outbreak origins, high-risk water systems, and the health implications of contamination. Key study topics include preventative control procedures, practical risk assessment strategies, the statutory responsibilities of water handling system owners, and relevant health and safety compliance legislation.
Delivered through a flexible, self-paced e-learning format, this intermediate course takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Learning is validated through a twenty-question assessment, leading to RoSPA assurance and CPD certification with one CPD point awarded upon successful completion.
