Program Description
The Online Flamenco Guitar Fundamentals Course introduces guitar players to the specialized techniques and rhythmic traditions of flamenco guitar. Designed for classical and acoustic guitarists as well as hobbyists who know basic guitar chords, the course breaks down complex rhythms and fingerstyle movements into manageable steps.
The curriculum covers foundational right-hand techniques such as rasgueado strumming variants, thumb work (pulgar), golpe tapping on the guitar body, picado rest-stroke scales, and the specialized alzapúa thumb motion. Students study traditional rhythmic cycles (compás) using visual flamenco clock models and apply these mechanisms directly to key musical forms (palos), including Soleá, Tangos Flamencos, and Rumba Flamenca, supplemented by lessons on palmas hand-clapping and tremolo.
Instruction is delivered through on-demand video lessons accompanied by downloadable PDF materials featuring standard musical notation and guitar tablature. The self-directed curriculum also incorporates guest lecture content and grants an individualized certificate upon completion of all modules.
