Program Description
This program is designed for beginners as well as returning learners who want to acquire practical Croatian speaking and comprehension skills for travel, everyday life, and cultural immersion across the Adriatic coast and the wider Balkan region. By removing traditional rote memorization of grammar rules and vocabulary lists, the course offers an accessible pathway to speaking Croatian naturally and confidently.
The curriculum centers on authentic, real-life communication scenarios organized into thematic learning series. Participants explore dialogues and practical situations covering travel essentials such as dining out in local konobas, navigating hotel stays and airports, handling everyday small talk, shopping, managing medical emergencies, and following captivating narrative stories that showcase Balkan culture and daily life.
Instruction follows the brain-friendly language acquisition method developed by Vera F. Birkenbihl, structured into manageable ten-minute micro-learning units based on listening, reading along, and shadowing. Learners decode native audio using an interactive word-for-word karaoke display that intuitively reveals grammar patterns, sentence structures, and vocabulary, available seamlessly online and via mobile web application.
