Online Advanced Handpan Technique and Improvisation Course

This advanced course is designed for handpan players with prior playing experience who seek to expand their technical capabilities and musical expression beyond basic patterns. Building directly upon foundational handpan skills, the program guides participants away from repetitive playing patterns and towards fluent, autonomous musical development without relying on sheet music or rigid notation systems.

The curriculum spans seven comprehensive lessons covering complex percussive and melodic topics. Core instructional modules examine double strokes, single-double stroke combinations, alternating bass, arpeggios, multi-tone chords, slap techniques, accents, and polyrhythms such as two-against-three patterns. Special emphasis is placed on ambidextrous coordination through inverted hand patterns, dynamic pulse management, and transitioning from structured exercises into intuitive improvisation and original composition.

Instruction is delivered through a digital learning management system containing 62 video units filmed from multiple camera angles, including frontal instruction and overhead player-perspective views. The method utilizes a visual rhythm table to demonstrate timing concepts clearly, accompanied by guided play-along segments, downloadable preparatory exercises, and membership in an online peer community.

This program requires participants to possess a handpan and baseline playing experience, including fluid hand-to-hand movements and familiarity with note placement. Enrollment is completed directly through the online registration portal.
